Transport Workers Union – Metropolitan Transit Authority Health and Welfare Trust (TWU-MTA) has been in business since 1989. It is an entity formed through the combined efforts of Transport Workers Union (TWU) and the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) for the sole purpose of administering benefits for hourly employees of MTA. TWU-MTA resolves problems for these employees as it relates to obtaining coverage and handling claims, whether it is medical, vision, dental and/or short-term disability. It acts as the intermediary between the employee and the designated insurance companies.
